"This project was created throughout a month long Marine-themed Camp at Life Project Education in Ojochal, Costa Rica (November 2019). Each day the children would enter the classroom and I (Teacher Brittni) would “change forms” and take on the perspective of a form of sea life (see the left side of each page in this book for the scripts). The idea was to get the children to practise active listening, not blurt out if they thought they knew (impulse control), and stimulate wonder and perspective taking. The children practiced writing, drawing, and explored new vocabulary throughout the camp. Terminology such as "advocacy", "sustainable", "endangered", "conservation", etc. were very much a part of our lessons and conversations. This is a part of Eco-Literacy (the ability to understand the natural systems that make life on Earth possible).
